Mary Ann was the second daughter of Arthur and Ethel Sether of Ruthton, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Aetna Lutheran Church in Ruthton. She graduated from Ruthton Public High School in 1959; then attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, graduating from the Parish Worker program in 1961. She married her high school boyfriend and classmate, Carl Anderson in 1961. They had six children: Timothy (Denise), Mark, Matthew (Aleasha), Maria (Matthew Sanborn), Michael (Dana), and Gregory (Nicole). She was the beloved grandmother of sixteen grandchildren.
Mary Ann was very active in the ministries of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect where the family lived since 1969. She was an avid quilter at home as well as leading the quilting group for LWR at her church. She also loved sewing, golf, bowling, book clubs, gardening and volunteering for the PADS program at St. Mark. She enjoyed travel both local and foreign, but especially enjoyed doing volunteer work for others and being involved with her children and grandchildren. She was known as a kind and generous person who showed her faith through service to others. She is survived by her husband, Carl, her sisters Marie and Caroline, and her children and grandchildren.
Memorial gathering Friday 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., at Northwest Hwy., Mt. Prospect. The gathering will continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM until Services 11:00 AM at St. mark Lutheran Church, 200 S. Wille St., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056
